It is a practical course with a significant hands-on component covering most aspects of laparoscopic GI surgery.
The course is suitable for consultants or surgical trainees with experience in laparoscopy wishing to advance their skills.
There is a lot of time to practice laparoscopic suturing, bile duct exploration, both transcystic and choledochotomy, familiarizing participants with choledochoscopy and cholangiography, gastric surgery including anti-reflux procedures, perforated duodenal ulcer repair, bowel surgery and bariatric procedures on well-designed animal organ models.
The Skills Unit at the Learning Resource Center in Cairo is absolutely first-class and state of the art. There are 12 stations, allowing for only 24 participants. They work in pairs on identical training stations.
